TVS Motor Dec sales down 8% at 1.56 lakh units

Two-wheeler maker TVS Motor Co's total sales in December declined 8 percent year-on-year to 1.56 lakh units.

The Chennai-based company's two-wheeler sales were down 10 percent to 1.52 lakh units, while three-wheeler commercial vehicle sales jumped 78 percent from a year ago to 4,486 units.

Last month, TVS Motor's motorcycle sales rose 6 percent to 60,210 units, driven by new launches like the Phoenix, but scooter sales slumped 32 percent to 30,398 units.

Its total exports declined to 20,251 units from 22,481 units a year ago.

TVS Motor shares were up 1 percent at Rs 42.30 on NSE in noon trade.
