Founded in 2011 Jagdish Repaswal's innovation MangoReader makes reading books an engaging and entertaining experience with interactive animations, videos, music and even a dictionary.
He has tied up with 10 publishers to make available the MangoReader with their e-books and this association has helped him create a network of 1200 schools pan India where the app is currently in use. The app is also available seamlessly across tablets, phones, desktops and Jagdish claims his venture already does a monthly turnover of Rs 10-15 lakh. Jagdish Repaswal is a 30 year old techie who returned to India in 2011 from the United States is not only redefining books and publishing, but reinventing the way children learn. His innovation MangoReader is bringing books to life by making them engaging and fun through the use of videos, animation and interactivity. Targeting the pre-school and the K12 segment the MangoReader teachers claim is helping students better comprehend and retain classroom lesson. Repaswal explains that if some pre-school wants to learn about body parts instead of just saying that this is my nose or this is my hair they actually can tap on all of these different objects and then see what is the meaning of those and how they interrelate with each other. So, from a teacher perspective the teacher is actually becoming a facilitator here where they are building this content and interacting with kids in a collaborative environment. On the other hand, Repaswal claims MangoReader also provides a platform for publishers, authors and illustrators to create rich interactive electronic story books and textbooks. The reader uses HTML 5 and runs seamlessly on the web, desktop, iPad, Android phones and tablets. Right now MangoReader has couple of revenue models. 1) Licensing platform to publishers to bring their content to life. They offer them the tools and technology to make interactive content and then help them distribute it through their. So, to publisher they basically offer the platform for anywhere from Rs 10-50 lakh licensing fee based on the number of books they create. 2) To schools they offer per school pricing of Rs 1-3 lakh per year where for the entire school they can have kids read this book across our platform. They have a consumer model also where kids and parents can download or buy these books, individual stories at home at a price Rs 50 per book. Generating a monthly turnover of Rs 10-15 lakh, Jagdish has a tie up with 10 publishers. To make educational stories more fun he has recently launched the MangoEditor, a platform where authors and voiceover artists can create story into faces. With 200 authors and artists using the MangoEditor, 100 stories have already been created in the last two months. Also, on the drawing board are plans to launch an app by September to translate these stories into multiple languages.Discover the latest Business News, Sensex, and Nifty updates.
