Auto sector to grow 15-18% in 2011-12: HS Goindi

HS Goindi, president marketing of TVS Motors told CNBC-TV18 that he expects the auto industry to grow at a rate of 15-18% in 2011-12, despite inflationary pressures settling in.

TVS Motor Company, one of India's leading two-wheeler makers, reported a 24% rise in sales during February 2011, to 177,412 units from 142,676 units in the same period last year.

HS Goindi, president marketing of the company told CNBC-TV18 that he expects the auto industry to grow at a rate of 15-18% in 2011-12, despite inflationary pressures settling in. He was positive on the outcome of the budget for the auto sector and said that the industry would not see any price increase from his company. "No increase in the excise duty would help the economy generally and our industry in particular," he added.
