A day after the Enforcement Directorate (ED) found prima facie evidence of money laundering, Serious Fraud Investigation Office (SFIO), sources tell CNBC-TV18 that they are probing certain offshore accounts to find evidence of possible fund diversion. There are two offshore accounts— in Isle of Man and Panama—used in the acquisition of Shaw Wallace Distilleries and other deals under Vijay Mallya's US expansion plans in 2007.The SFIO is seeking details and access of the fund transactions involved in relation with the two accounts. While authorities are likely to be approached for the Isle of Man account, accessing the Panama account will be difficult unless Mallya himself provides the details.SFIO will send notice to erstwhile and current group companies including United Breweries (UB) Group, United Spirits Limited (USL).It is learnt that SFIO is probing deal between Air Deccan and Kingfisher Airlines which took place in 2007. The body has also called in representatives from Mangalore Chemicals & Fertilizers (MCF) for recording their statements.Listen in to video of CNBC-TV18's Navin Shetty on more details
