Govt launches Rs 5000 cr IT contract for rail digitisation

The contract is the first of many deals as a part of the government’s digitisation drive.

The government on Thursday launched an information technology contract worth Rs 5000 crore for digitisation of railways database and systems and creation of IT infrastructure for the same.

The contract is the first of many deals as a part of the government’s digitisation drive.

Bids for the deal will open in January 2015 and close by April 2015.

The deal invites expression of interests (EOI) from IT vendors, wherein IT behemoths such as Infosys, HCL Technologies, TCS, Tech Mahindra, iGATE, Cognizant, Hexaware, Mindtree, IBM, Accenture and Capgemini are invited to bid, reports CNBC-TV18 as an exclusive.
