It is day 9 of the spectrum auction - total bids stand at over Rs 1 lakh crore despite a marginal dip. Surprisingly, telecom companies are still slugging it out for airwaves across all bands, reports CNBC-TV18's Malvika Jain.
The government has so far managed to sell only about 87 percent of spectrum and there is substantial portion of the spectrum that has been put up for action that remains unsold. There is not excess demand in all the circles but there are some circles which have seen aggressive bidding and bidding is continuing across spectrum bands.
Industry sources had indicated during the beginning of the week that probably this spectrum auction is in its last leg and would be coming to an end but that is something that doesn’t seem to be happening. There is 800 Mhz band of spectrum that is still seeing continuous bidding from various players.
