A closer look at the CBI's chargesheet pertaining to grant of additional spectrum during Pramod Mahajan's tenure reveals that allegedly then DoT secretary, Shyamal Ghosh and JR Gupta colluded with companies like Bharti Airtel, Vodafone and others by bypassing other DoT officials. The CBI will begin its investigation in the grant of additional spectrum to Bharti Airtel, Vodafone and others next week. According to sources, the agency is currently scrutinizing the documents, which it had seized on Saturday and is in the process of finalising its plan of action.
It was indicated that all key persons related to these companies are likely to be questioned to ascertain the facts. However, it is not necessary that they are accused in the case. While sources said that it is premature to give a timeline for questioning, it is likely to begin after 3-4 weeks.
