Centre to hold crucial meetings with states over rollout of key job schemes: Report

The Narendra Modi government is aiming to create over 4 crore jobs in the period of next five years. Sitharaman has allocated Rs 2 lakh crore for this ambitious goal.

The Centre is all set to hold critical meetings with state governments to assess the preparedness regarding the rollout of key job schemes across the country.

According to an Economic Times report, these meetings will focus on labour reforms and the job creation schemes announced in the Union Budget last month. Union Finance Minister Nirmala Sitharaman had announced three incentive schemes with an aim of creation of 29 million jobs.

The report said that the labour ministry is scheduled to hold a virtual meeting with the officials of UTs and states on Wednesday. Later, six different meetings will be held between August 30 to October 4. These meetings will focus on job generation, labour codes and integration of e-Shram portal among other things.

According to an official, the Centre wants a streamlined approach regarding the job scheme rollout. And since labour is a subject of concurrent list, the Centre wants all stakeholders on the same page.
