AAP supremo Arvind Kejriwal on Thursday accused the Chief Election Commissioner Rajiv Kumar of 'destroying' the credibility of the Election Commission of India and alleged that he was indulging in politics by issuing a notice over his claim that the Haryana government was “mixing poison” in the Yamuna river.

Kejriwal's remark comes hours after the poll body asked Delhi chief minister Atishi and Aam Aadmi Party (AAP) chief Arvind Kejriwal to refrain from mixing governance issues with election campaigns and to provide factual evidence supporting his recent claim that Delhi’s water supply is being "poisoned."

The poll body expressed dissatisfaction with his response to its notice earlier in the day, and gave him another chance to clarify his allegations against the Haryana government.

Kejriwal had alleged that the Delhi government’s water supply was being deliberately contaminated, calling it a conspiracy to harm the public. His remarks, made during election rallies, stirred controversy, with opposition parties accusing him of fearmongering ahead of the upcoming Lok Sabha polls.
