This year’s MET Gala blue carpet served more than just high fashion by shining the spotlight on baby mamas in high couture. Among the many head-turning moments at the 2025 edition of fashion’s most elite soirée, it was two radiant mothers-to-be — Bollywood actor Kiara Advani and global popstar Rihanna — who captured hearts and headlines in their custom designer outfits.

In a moment that fused art, diversity, and motherhood, Kiara Advani made her long-awaited MET Gala debut in a sculptural creation by Indian couturier Gaurav Gupta. Styled by Anaita Shroff Adajania, the look titled ‘Bravehearts’ was far from a traditional red carpet appearance. The outfit was a fitting tribute to André Leon Talley and his legacy at Vogue and Black fashion history.

With her baby bump elegantly encased in a heart-shaped breastplate and the dramatic sweep of a cape behind her, Kiara embodied this year’s theme, Superfine: Tailoring Black Style, with grace and symbolism. The ensemble drew inspiration from the codes of Black dandyism and sent out a powerful statement from the designer’s atelier.

According to the press statement from the designer’s team, Kiara expressed her excitement for this collaboration and mentioned, “Making my Met Gala debut at this point in my life, as both an artist and mother-to-be feels incredibly special. When my stylist, Anaita Shroff Adajania , approached Gaurav to design my look, he created 'Bravehearts', a vision that honours the transformative phase I’m stepping into connecting it beautifully to this year’s dress code ‘Tailored for you.’ Inspired by the legacy of André Leon Talley we reflected on what it means to show up with intention, individuality and strength.”
