The rainy season is notorious for causing hair and scalp problems. Come monsoon, and you find you hair everywhere; on pillows, in combs, clogging the shower drain. Add to that the dilemma of whether to oil your hair, wash it more often, use conditioners, or avoid them altogether. The troubles seem never-ending.

Dandruff, hairfall, sticky scalp, monsoon hair troubles are plenty. But so are the ways to prevent them. Dr Anindita Sarkar, Chief Medical Officer at Clinikally & Aayna Clinics, told Moneycontrol, “Your hair reacts to weather, stress, and how you treat it. Listen before it warning signs. But the first thing to do is separate myth from fact.”

More oiling myth

For generations, oil has been the trusted remedy for hair problems. But not all oils help, especially in monsoon. “Heavy oils trap humidity, dust, and pollutants,” Dr Sarkar told Moneycontrol. “This worsens scalp conditions, especially fungal infections.” She suggests switching to lighter oils or leave-in serums, and always cleansing thoroughly. “Oiling without washing properly can do more harm than good,”
