It’s not just the festive season that lifts everyone’s spirits; it’s also a time when many couples tie the knot, adding to the cheer. But for brides and grooms-to-be, there are countless things to take care of, with the most important being looking your best on your special day.

Dr Gurveen Garekar, a popular dermatologist, told Moneycontrol some essential dos and don’ts for couples preparing for their big day. From staying hydrated for a natural glow to scheduling timely skin treatments to avoid last-minute mishaps, here are a few of her useful tips…

Lifestyle Changes: Dr Gurveen recommended staying hydrated and drinking a minimum of 3 litres of water per day. Besides keeping you healthy, it also gives your skin a natural glow. She stressed not only sleeping for the right number of hours but also establishing a fixed sleep cycle. She also advised taking supplements, including Omega-3 for hydration, magnesium for sleep, and glutathione and vitamin C for glow.

Diet Modification: A good diet is the secret to a fit body, a healthy mind, and glowing skin. She suggested eating sufficient protein and keeping your diet colourful — incorporating reds, yellows, and greens along with plenty of fruits and vegetables. Cutting down on sugar and alcohol was also high on her list.
