Fabrics and footwear matter more than you think. Always keep your focus on comfort first. Nobody enjoys sitting in wet clothes for hours. The idea is to avoid anything that holds moisture or feels heavy,” says Garg, who regularly shares styling advice online.

Managing monsoon wear is less about trends and more about everyday survival. “It’s about dressing for the weather, not against it,” she adds. With the right fabric, footwear and accessories, styling for sudden downpours becomes much easier.

The duo suggests these 6 small style tweaks that work well during the monsoon:

• Choose fabrics that dry quickly: “Polyester, nylon, or blends that repel moisture work well,” says Garg. “Natural fibres like denim or cotton stay wet longer and feel uncomfortable,” she adds.

• Pick cropped bottoms and loose silhouettes: “Ankle-length trousers or breezy cuts prevent fabric from dragging through puddles,” says Bhatia. These styles also allow for better air flow.

• Keep a lightweight rain jacket or poncho: “Bulky umbrellas can be difficult in crowded areas. A compact poncho or foldable rain jacket is easy to carry and use,” Garg says.

• Opt for water-friendly footwear: For footwear Bhatia prefers shoes with proper grip and water-resistant material. On the other hand, Garg suggests jelly flats or transparent rain boots paired with colourful socks for added comfort.

• Go for crossbody bags with zips: Crossbody bags with zip closures and water-repellent fabrics help keep essentials dry. Bright colours can also lift your mood on grey days,” says Garg.

• Keep accessories simple and weather-safe: “Humidity can damage metal jewellery. Resin or waterproof materials reduce the risk of tarnishing while staying light and comfortable,” suggests Bhatia.
