He adds, “Heatwaves directly and severely impact human health, causing a dramatic increase in heat-related illnesses such as heatstroke, dehydration, and exacerbation of pre-existing conditions like cardiovascular and respiratory diseases. The elderly, children, and those with chronic health conditions are particularly vulnerable.”
