One of the most well-liked celebrities of his era, Vinod Khanna was frequently compared to well-known figures like Rishi Kapoor, Dharmendra, and Amitabh Bachchan.
However, he shocked everyone at the height of his career when he left Bollywood and relocated to the United States to follow the teachings of spiritual guru Osho Rajneesh. Vinod returned to the film industry after almost five years away and began working nonstop to make up for lost time.

During this time, an incident involving actress Dimple Kapadia on the Prem Dharam sets left everyone in disbelief. There was a scene in the Mahesh Bhatt-directed movie where Vinod was meant to embrace and kiss Dimple.
Although the first take went without any issues, Mahesh requested a longer shot. After moving the cameras, the crew resumed filming. But this time, it's said that Vinod lost control and kept kissing and hugging Dimple despite Mahesh's yell of "cut."
Dimple Khanna left in shock, disbelieve
Startled and uneasy, Dimple hurried to her makeup room after being taken by surprise. The actors were quickly separated by the crew as well. Later, Vinod was confronted by Mahesh Bhatt, who asked him to apologise to Dimple.
According to reports, Vinod acknowledged that he had lost control because he hadn't filmed an intimate scene in years and attributed it to being intoxicated.
Personal life
Vinod Khanna was married to his first wife Geetanjali Taleyarkhan and the couple had two sons- Akshaye Khanna and Rahul Khanna. However, the couple separated in 1985 after the actor left Geetanjali to pursue his spiritual calling and couldn't come back to her.

But love found its way again and Vinod married his second wife Kavita Daftary later in 1990. They welcomed son Sakshi Khanna and daughter Shraddha Khanna.
Vinod Khanna, who is renowned for roles in Purab Aur Paschim, Mere Apne, Mera Gaon Mera Desh, and Rakhwala, remained one of Bollywood's most admired actors in spite of these scandals. After battling advanced bladder cancer, he remained employed in the field for decades until his death in 2017.
