Although Gauahar Khan has gracefully embraced motherhood and is currently expecting her second child with husband Zaid Darbar, her personal life took a very different turn years ago.
Gauahar was briefly engaged to filmmaker Sajid Khan long before she found stability and true love.
In a resurfaced interview with Doordarshan, Sajid candidly discussed their past relationship. Reflecting on their time together, he stated, “We were together for one year. She is a lovely girl. I don’t like to take names publicly on a show, but it’s okay since the world knows about it. Our engagement was also covered by the media."

Sajid acknowledged that the breakup was caused by his own behaviour. Reflecting on that time, he said, “Mera character bahut dheela tha. Main bahut ladkiyon ke saath baahar ghoom raha tha, unhein jhooth bol raha tha. Kabhi kuch aisi battameezi nahi ki, lekin har ladki ko ‘I love you’ aur ‘Will you marry me?’ bolta tha."
Sajid also added with characteristic humour, “Ab tak meri koi 350 shaadi honi chahiye thi, lekin nahi hui. I am sure main jitni bhi ladkiyon ke saath life mein tha, kahin na kahin woh mujhe thoda miss bhi kar rahi hongi aur thoda gaali bhi deti hongi."
Gauahar gradually established herself in the entertainment industry after splitting from Sajid. After winning Bigg Boss 7, she gained popularity and became a fan favourite on reality television, which was her big break.
She became romantically involved with fellow contestant Kushal Tandon during her time on the show. Despite making headlines, their relationship ended when the show ended.
Later on, Gauahar fell deeply in love with Zaid Darbar, a choreographer and content creator. Zehaan, the couple's first child, was born in 2023 after they were married in 2020. Now that Gauahar is enjoying a more settled phase of her life, the family is getting ready to welcome their newest member.

Sajid Khan, meanwhile, has been involved in a number of scandals.
Several women, including journalists, actors, and coworkers, came forward in 2018 at the height of India's #MeToo movement to accuse him of sexual misconduct.
Inappropriate remarks and advances were detailed in their testimonies. He left Housefull 4 due to the criticism, and the Indian Film & Television Directors' Association then suspended him for a year.
Despite Sajid's comeback to the spotlight through Bigg Boss 16, the accusations have had a lasting impact on his career.
