Shatrughan Sinha, a celebrated Indian actor and politician, is renowned for his commanding screen presence and unique voice. According to several media reports, a love triangle was speculated between Shatrughan Sinha, Poonam Sinha, and actress Reena Roy during the earlier years of their marriage. Despite such speculations, Shatrughan and Poonam have continued to remain together over the decades.
As per reports, Producer Pahlaj Nihlani once faced significant challenges in bringing Shatrughan Sinha, Poonam Sinha, and Reena Roy together for a film. Reena Roy was cast for an important role in the movie, which starred Shatrughan and Poonam in the lead. However, the situation became complicated as tensions flared between the actors, with Nihlani finding himself caught in the middle of the love triangle. The friction escalated to such an extent that Reena Roy threatened to never work with him again. In an emotional outburst, she even declared that she would marry someone else within eight days if Shatrughan Sinha didn’t marry her.
Pahlaj Nihlani began collaborating with Shatrughan Sinha in the film Haathkadi (1982), which also featured Sanjeev Kumar and Reena Roy in key roles. However, things took a complicated turn when Nihlani tried to bring the same cast together for his next project, Aandhi Toofan.
According to sources on Reddit, Nihlani revealed that after the success of Haathkadi, he was eager to reunite Shatrughan, Reena, and Sanjeev Kumar for the new film. However, Reena Roy firmly declined his offer, refusing to be a part of the project.
She told Nihlani, "Tell your friend to make up his mind. If he gives me an answer, I'll do the next film with him. Otherwise, it's a 'No'. I've made up my mind that if he doesn't marry me, I'm going to get married in eight days."
Shatrughan Sinha and Poonam recently appeared as guests on The Great Indian Kapil Show during which he recalled when they got married in 1980 after dating each other for 14 years. The couple share three children- Sonakshi, Luv and Kush.
Shatrughan Sinha shared an intriguing detail about the early years of his marriage to Poonam Sinha, revealing that a pandit had predicted a difficult phase ahead for her. According to Shatrughan, the pandit told Poonam that she would face tough times for the first 7.5 years of their marriage, but reassured her that she would eventually adjust.
He also mentioned that rumors surrounding his past relationships, particularly with other actresses, reached Poonam and created emotional turbulence, raising doubts in her mind. Despite these challenges, Shatrughan emphasized how their deep bond and mutual understanding helped them navigate and overcome these struggles together.
Shatrughan and Poonam have also shared the screen together in the film such as Shaitaan and Sabak.
