Actor Silambarasan TR, fondly known as STR, has once again captured public attention — this time for his extraordinary physical transformation ahead of his next film.
As per India Today, STR reportedly shed nearly ten kilograms in just ten days, a feat that has impressed both fans and industry insiders. The drastic change is in preparation for his much-anticipated collaboration with acclaimed director Vetri Maaran.
Though specifics about the movie, "STR49," are still unknown, rumours have been rampant after STR changed and the movie's purported location was revealed. Fans are excitedly awaiting more updates as a result of the actor's commitment to his craft.
Fueling the buzz is the connection between STR49 and the acclaimed cinematic universe of ‘Vada Chennai’, Vetri Maaran’s 2018 cult hit starring Dhanush. However, Vetri Maaran has clarified that while the new film shares the same world, it is not a sequel.
In a video shared by Grass Root Film Company, he stated: “‘STR49’ is set in the world of ‘Vada Chennai’, but it’s not ‘Vada Chennai 2’. Since Dhanush owns the copyright, I told him I was making a film with Silambarasan in the ‘Vada Chennai’ world. Dhanush didn’t ask for a single rupee and willingly agreed to give an NOC. But unfortunately, there has been a lot of negative speculation about us.”
Vetri Maaran also addressed recent rumours, adding: “I didn’t appreciate the way these rumours were circulating. Dhanush would never interfere in my creative process. When I was in financial trouble recently, it was Dhanush who arranged the funds, as an advance from a producer.”

Reports of cameos from Manikandan, Kavin, and Nelson Dilipkumar further support the movie. The shared universe idea will also be strengthened by the return of Vada Chennai cast members Andrea Jeremiah, Samuthirakani, and Kishore.
The film is expected to be one of Tamil cinema's most anticipated releases, with a strong ensemble cast and a powerful performance from STR.
