Bollywood actor Disha Patani’s family home in Bareilly, Uttar Pradesh, became the scene of a security scare early Friday after unidentified assailants fired shots outside the residence. Police said the incident occurred at Villa No. 40 in the Civil Lines area around 4:30 am. At least two rounds of aerial firing were reported, though no injuries were recorded.
According to officials, the motive appears to be linked to allegations that Patani had insulted revered Hindu saints Premanand Maharaj and Aniruddhacharya Maharaj. Soon after the gunfire, a social media post surfaced, claiming responsibility for the attack and warning members of the film industry against showing “disrespect” to Sanatan Dharma.
The post, written in Hindi and now under police scrutiny,
carried the names of two men — Virendra Charan and Mahendra Saran (Delana). It said the firing was a direct response to the “insult of saints” and issued an ominous warning:
“Ram Ram to all brothers. Today the firing that happened at Khushboo Patani/Disha Patani’s house… we got it done. She insulted our revered saints… This was just a trailer. Next time… no one in their house will be left alive.”
The message further warned others in the film industry against similar acts, stating that those who insult the religion or its saints should be “ready to face the consequences.”
Senior officers from Bareilly Police confirmed that an investigation has been launched. Efforts are underway to trace the origin of the social media post and identify whether the individuals named in it were directly involved in the firing. Forensic teams have been deployed to examine the crime scene, and additional security has been provided around the Patani household.
Authorities also noted that the authenticity of the online message is yet to be fully verified. “We are treating this very seriously. The family is safe, and investigations are progressing,” a police spokesperson said.
Disha Patani, who has been away from Bareilly due to her film commitments, has not publicly commented on the incident. However, her younger sister, Khushboo Patani, acknowledged the matter on social media, expressing concern and urging calm while the investigation unfolds.
