Shah Rukh Khan’s much-awaited film King has left fans buzzing with anticipation, but recent developments suggest that the film's release might be pushed further. Initially slated for an Eid 2026 release, fresh reports indicate that King could face more delays due to production hurdles. The film, directed by Siddharth Anand, was supposed to begin filming in May 2025, but now, with the schedule being revised, the team is eyeing a new start date for mid-2025.
One key reason behind the delay is reportedly Shah Rukh Khan’s dissatisfaction with the script. A source close to the production revealed that SRK is committed to delivering a flawless film, which has led to ongoing changes in the script. The superstar wants to ensure that the story is polished and refined to meet high standards before the cameras start rolling. “The makers want to ensure they have a terrific script in hand before the camera starts rolling,” the source shared, emphasizing SRK's dedication to making King an ambitious project. With major milestones to achieve, including introducing his daughter, Suhana Khan, to the big screen alongside him, it’s clear that Shah Rukh is taking extra care to get everything just right. As a result, the film's shooting is now expected to commence around July or August 2025.
In addition to Shah Rukh Khan and Suhana, King will feature other notable names. Deepika Padukone, in a cameo role, is expected to play Suhana's mother, marking another collaboration between her and SRK after their success in Jawan (2023). Deepika has also portrayed mother figures in several other high-profile films, including Brahmastra (2022) and Kalki 2898 AD (2024). The cast also includes Munjya fame Abhay Verma in an important role, with Abhishek Bachchan rumored to play the antagonist. With such an exciting lineup, King is shaping up to be one of the most anticipated films of the next few years.
