Oscar-winning composer AR Rahman, who was admitted to Chennai's Apollo Hospital last night due to dehydration, has now been discharged. His family confirmed his condition was not serious, and the hospital visit was precautionary. Meanwhile, his estranged wife, Saira Banu, urged fans not to refer to her as his "ex-wife."
Saira Banu shared a voice note on Sunday to address the matter, beginning with a warm 'Salam.' She said, "Assalamualaikum. I wish him a speedy recovery. I received the news that he had chest pain and underwent angiography, and by the grace of Allah, he is fine now; he is doing well."
"I want to tell all of you that we are not officially divorced, we are still husband and wife, it's just that we are separated because I was not feeling well for the last two years and I didn't want to stress him too much but please don't say 'ex-wife'," she continued.
Saira Banu also expressed that although they are separated, her prayers remain with AR Rahman. She urged everyone, especially his family, not to stress him too much and to take good care of him, concluding her message with gratitude and a prayerful farewell.
AR Rahman was admitted to a hospital in Chennai on Saturday night due to dehydration, as confirmed by both his sister and son on Sunday. The musician had just returned from London the previous night when he began feeling unwell and decided to undergo a medical check-up.

Doctors attributed his condition to dehydration, noting that he had been fasting for Ramzan, which likely contributed to his discomfort.
Rahman also made headlines last year when he and his wife, Saira Banu, announced their divorce through their legal representatives. The couple had been married for 29 years and share three children—son AR Ameen and daughters Khatija Rahman and Raheema Rahman.
