Director Vinod Anantoju, known for Middle Class Melodies, returns with a deeply personal project titled Takshakudu. Drawing inspiration from the folktales and village myths of his childhood, Anantoju crafts a world that blends fantasy, moral conflict, and human greed. The Telugu thriller stars Anand Deverakonda and Nitanshi Goel in lead roles and will stream exclusively on Netflix.

Anantoju describes Takshakudu as more than a conventional thriller — it’s a realm where myths breathe, silence unsettles, and the faintest sounds heighten tension. Produced by Sithara Entertainments and Fortune Four Cinema, the film promises a visually immersive experience, supported by Balaji Subramanyam’s cinematography and Midhun Mukundan’s atmospheric score.

For Anand Deverakonda, who plays Suri, the story marks a major tonal shift. Known for grounded dramas like Baby and Middle Class Melodies, Anand now steps into a darker, folklore-driven narrative exploring moral dilemmas and the corrosive power of greed. His co-star, Nitanshi Goel, fresh off her acclaimed Bollywood debut in Laapataa Ladies, makes her Tollywood debut with this film — a move that fans are already celebrating online.

Netflix India South confirmed the film’s arrival through a post that read, “It started with Atyasa, and Prateekaram will follow,” hinting at thematic continuity across its Telugu originals. While the official release date is yet to be announced, Takshakudu is expected to headline Netflix’s expanding lineup of regional content.
