  • Dhamaal 4 now set to release in theatres on June 12, 2026
  • Release postponed to avoid clash with Dhurandhar 2 and Toxic
  • Ajay Devgn, Riteish Deshmukh, and ensemble cast headline the comedy sequel

Vijay Sethupathi is known for carefully picking his roles and not doing cameos, but he made an exception for Jailer 2. The actor, who has always said he prefers big roles to small ones, said he made his choice because he looks up to superstar Rajinikanth.

Vijay Sethupathi recently talked to The Hollywood Reporter India about why he agreed to be in the sequel even though he had always said he wouldn't. He said again that he usually doesn't take cameo roles, but he couldn't say no to the chance to share the screen with Rajinikanth. Vijay said that being around Rajinikanth was very rewarding. The two actors had worked together before in Petta.

"I did a cameo in Jailer 2 because I really like Rajinikanth sir." I learn so much when I'm with him. The actor said, "He and other superstars have stayed in the business for decades, and there's a lot to learn from that journey."

Nelson Dilipkumar is directing Jailer 2, which stars Rajinikanth in the lead role once more. The movie is set to come out in theatres later this year. It is a follow-up to the hit movie Jailer from 2023, which went on to become the highest-grossing Tamil film of that year.
