Pawan Kalyan's most awaited film OG finally hit the screens today. The film that started four years ago. finally saw the light today. Directed by Sujeeth and produced by DVV Danayya, the film has Priyanka Arul Mohan, Emraan Hashmi and others in lead roles. The film has received blockbuster reviews worldwide. Plot
It all starts when Indians living in Japan's Mount Fuji area have to make a comeback to India and bring their business and wealth back. On the same ship are thieves who try to steal the wealth, but a Samurai called Ojas Gambheera (Pawan Kalyan) saves the people on the ship. That's how Satya dada (Prakash Raj) is back in India and builds a port in Mumbai for good. Ojas becomes a key part in Satya dada's life. He is the saviour of his family and helped Dada grow his business. Due to some issues between them, Gambhera chooses to lead a private life, far from Dada. He has a wife Kanmani (Priyanka Arul Mohan) and a daughter.
One day, a container lands in Dada's port without permission and soon it's realised that it has RDX in it. The container belongs to Omi Bhau (Emraan Hashmi),the mafia don of the world. Dada's younger son is killed by his rival's younger son Jimmy (Sudev Nair) who is also Omi's brother.
Dada's life is in trouble now and then OG makes a comeback to show a blood bath to Mumbai again. How does OG clash with Omi? Will he get the container? Is Dada's life safe? The answers to these questions form the crux of the story.
Performances
Fans get to see Pawan Kalyan in a never seen before avatar. Undoubtedly, this is one of his career best performances. Every single move that he makes is stylish and absolutely thrilling to watch on the big screen. Emraan Hashmi is the perfect choice for Omi and no one could have done it better. A good debut in Telugu for him.
Priyanka Arul Mohan has done a decent job. Sriya Reddy's power packed performance is worth watching. Arjun Das played an important role for sure but not as great as expected. Prakash Raj, Subhalekha Sudhakar, Harish Uthhaman, Sudev Nair and others have done a good job.
Technicalities
Sujeeth, with this film has proved that he is Pawan Kalyan's forever fan. It is an absolute tribute to his favourite hero. He has shown Pawan Kalyan in this most stylish way of his career. All the elevation shorts in the film, given an absolute high to the audience and the fans, especially. 2, his previous film Saaho, with Prabhas did not live up to the expectations of the audience, it can undoubtedly be said that Sujeeth is back in action with this gangster drama.
The introduction shot of Pawan Kalyan, and the most unexpected fight just before the interval is something that fans never saw coming. Pawan Kalyan is shown as.Samurai in this film and also as someone who has control over this community across the world.
In real life, Pawan Kalyan is a karate player and has undergone training of mini martial arts. In this film too, he has designed most of the fighting and action sequences.
Sujeeth has successfully shown Pawan Kalyan in the way fans have been waiting to watch him for a decade now.
With all the elevation shorts that Sujeeth has designed for Pawan Kalyan, it is the music and the background score composed by SS Thaman that gives you all the high and does not let you sit in the seat at all.
Thaman has boarded his sweat and blood into the making of this film.
Analysis
The filming of OG started in 2022, and it took almost 4 years for the film to be completed as Pawan Kalyan made his way into politics, finding it difficult to allocate dates for the shoot. The Director very patiently awaited all these years and had laid complete trust on Pawan Kalyan. On the other hand, Pawan also trusted Sujeeth so much for the content he's going to deliver and today it has been proved that all the waiting is worthy enough.
The production quality is amazing, and the makers did not leave any stone unturned. DVV Danayya, after RRR, has bagged another blockbuster hit.
Omi Bhau’s character could have been a little better and in-depth. Though he has moved to Istanbul long back, he should definitely, somehow, know who OG was. And why he wants to blast Mumbai to get the position of a weapon dealer internationally is something that does not make sense. The revenge drama can be made a little better.
Verdict
An absolute entertainer which is going to keep you hooked to the seat and also gives an adrenaline rush.
