Actress Sharvari Wagh is basking in the success of her first solo film as a lead actress, 'Munjya'. The actress was in Delhi for the post-promotions of the movie, which is produced by Maddock Films and is a horror comedy in the lines of 'Stree' and 'Bhediya'.
Sharvari, who looked smart in shorts and a blazer, spoke to the media in Delhi. While replying to a question asked by moneycontrol.com on how it was to work in 'Munjya' and then shifting to action for her next unreleased movie with Alia Bhatt, the actress said, 'she feels lucky.'
"I am grateful that for the next movie that I am doing in the spy universe, I will be more confident there, and I am working with my favourite actor, Alia Bhatt. To be a part of these two IPs, 'Maddock's horror comedy and YRF's Spy Universe, is a great thing. For an actor who is just one film old, it is a big thing. I have always wished and prayed that I would do the biggest films. And I am going to do all the hard work and make the audience proud, she told us.
Sharvari also spoke about her struggles and how she agreed to be an assistant director so that she could be on the film sets. She said earlier that she would never get offered any roles.
"I understand how significant this achievement is for me. After struggling for the past 7-8 years and not getting any initial work, I worked as an assistant director just to be on sets and learn. Now, having my first solo lead role feels like a major milestone. Today, I can proudly say that my debut movie is a hit, and it’s been a very special journey. While success is a by-product, the love of the audience matters even more. It’s wonderful to hear that I am feeling confident today," she added.
Sharvari was accompanied by the film's lead and debutante, Abhay Verma, and director Aditya Sarpotdar.
It is Aditya's first Hindi directorial venture, and he says they just wanted to make a good film for the audience. On the success of the movie, Aditya said they were least expecting these numbers, and now he is happy that people loved 'Munjya', a folk lore from Konkan.
"We made our debut film, you know. Although I’ve directed 8–9 Marathi films before, this is my first Hindi movie. It’s Sharvari’s first solo female lead role. So many firsts were happening with this film. We weren’t sure if people would like the character from Konkan or not, but we knew we were making a good film. We decided on a budget, and on Friday, we found out that the movie is being well-received. The numbers are unbelievable. Is this really happening or are we dreaming?" he told reporters.
'Munjya' is doing great at the box office and has earned Rs 20 crore since the day of its release on Friday (June 7).
