Ishq Vishk Rebound, directed by Nipun Avinash Dharmadhikari, has had a tepid reception at the box office in India. According to Sacnilk.com, the film has garnered over ₹2 crore in its first two days.
Released on Friday, June 21, as a follow-up to the 2003 Shahid Kapoor hit Ishq Vishk, this new installment stars Rohit Saraf, Pashmina Roshan, Jibraan Khan, and Naila Grewal. The movie debuted with earnings of ₹1 crore on its opening day. However, it struggled to attract a larger audience on its second day, earning another ₹1 crore.
Early estimates suggest that the film brought in ₹1.15 crore on its first Saturday. This modest increase in earnings leaves the total box office collection at ₹2.15 crore. Despite the anticipation, the film did not see a significant rise in viewership, maintaining a Hindi occupancy rate of just 16.82 percent on Saturday.
The storyline of "Ishq Vishk Rebound" centers on best friends who fall in love and navigate the complexities of their relationship. Featuring Rohit Saraf, Pashmina Roshan, Naila Grewal, and Jibraan Khan in romantic roles, the film aims to capture the essence of Gen Z love stories.
At a recent event, Rohit Saraf clarified the nature of "Ishq Vishk Rebound," as reported by ANI. He emphasized that it is neither a remake nor a direct sequel to the original Ishq Vishk. “[Ishq Vishk Rebound is] not a remake or sequel of Ishq Vishk. The thing common between the two films is that they belong to the same franchise. But it's a new story altogether, a love story about Gen Z,” he explained. The 2003 Ishq Vishk starred Shahid Kapoor, Amrita Rao, Vishal Malhotra, and Shenaz Treasurywala.

The Moneycontrol review of the film read, "The term ‘spiritual sequel’ confuses me, more so in the context of director Nipun Dharmadhikari’s Ishq Vishk Rebound which is unlike the Shahid-Kapoor starrer Ishq Vishk (2003) both in terms of sequel and spirit. While the former was a sleeper hit for both Shahid Kapoor and Amrita Rao, the latter made me fall asleep pre-interval. The cast has just about the same charisma of Splitsvilla contestants—none of them radiate main character energy. The screen presence leaves much to be desired. So does the plot. And the performances."
