Better Call Saul’s Bob Odenkirk, the notorious lawyer who played the right amount of ‘good’ and ‘bad’ in the Vince Gilligan and Peter Gould directed series, gave a performance of the year with his take on the “John Wick” franchise, with his action thriller “Nobody.”
As luck has it, the beloved actor is going to be donning his badass visage again for the film' sequel, “Nobody 2.”
According to the latest reports, helming the Odenkirk starrer is Indonesian director Timo Tjahjanto. The filmmaker has worked on several projects but his most memorable ones being, “The Night Comes for Us” and “May the Devil Take You,” as well as the horror thrillers “V/H/S/2” and “V/H/S/94.”
Timo Tjahjanto forms one half of the dynamic filmmaking team known as the Mo Brothers, collaborating closely with Kimo Stamboel. Together, they've crafted and directed films such as "Macabre," "Killers," and "Headshot."
Universal Pictures has announced that production for "Nobody 2" will kick off this August, with a release date set for August 15, 2025. According to insiders, Connie Nielsen will reprise her role as Becca Mansell, the spouse of Bob Odenkirk’s protagonist. Additional casting details remain under wraps.
Derek Kolstad, who penned the original "Nobody," returns to write the sequel along with Aaron Rabin, Bob Odenkirk, and Umair Aleem. The producing team includes Marc Provissiero of Odenkirk Provissiero Entertainment, Braden Aftergood of Eighty Two Films, and David Leitch and Kelly McCormick through 87North’s first-look deal with Universal. Ilya Naishuller, who helmed the first installment, released in theaters in March 2021, will not be directing this time around. The original film garnered $57 million globally.
While specific plot details for "Nobody 2" are still confidential, the original narrative followed Hutch Mansell (Odenkirk), a suburban father with a buried history of government-sanctioned violence. The invasion of his home rekindles his dormant fury and capabilities, thrusting him into a violent clash with a Russian drug kingpin.
Directed by Ilya Naishuller and written by Derek Kolstad, the first film combined dark humor with intricately choreographed action sequences. It premiered at the top of the domestic box office and achieved over $57 million worldwide upon its March 2021 release, as audiences were transitioning out of the Covid-19 pandemic.
