Morrissey has pulled the plug on two U.S. shows after what his team called a “credible threat” to his life. The 66-year-old singer, best known as the former frontman of The Smiths, announced the cancellations on Friday, just days after performing in Ottawa despite warnings.
The Canceled Concerts
The affected dates were September 19 at Foxwoods in Connecticut and September 20 at MGM Music Hall in Boston. A statement posted to Morrissey’s social media read: “In recent days, there has been a credible threat on Morrissey’s life… out of an abundance of caution for the safety of both the artist and band, the upcoming shows have been cancelled. All tickets will be refunded automatically… We appreciate your understanding.”
Fans expressed disappointment online but largely backed the decision, stressing that safety matters more than a night out.
The Alleged Threat
The Ottawa Citizen reported that court documents identified 26-year-old Noah Castellano as the source of the threat. On Bluesky, he allegedly wrote he would attempt to shoot Morrissey at Ottawa’s CityFolk Festival on September 12. Despite the chilling post, Morrissey performed the show and then continued with concerts in Toronto and New York.
Castellano was arrested the same day and charged with uttering threats to cause death or bodily harm. He was later released on $5,000 bail and declined to comment when reached by reporters.

What’s Next for the Tour
Though Connecticut and Boston are off the schedule, Morrissey’s tour isn’t stopping. He’s set to continue with shows across North America through January, with stops in Philadelphia, Chicago, Denver, Los Angeles, Seattle, and more.
For Morrissey, whose career has often mixed brilliance with controversy, this scare adds yet another dramatic chapter.
