The KPop wave just scored another massive win—this time through animation. Netflix’s KPop Demon Hunters soundtrack has climbed its way to the No. 1 spot on the Billboard 200 albums chart, a first for the film since its release earlier this year.

The real headline is Huntr/x, the fictional girl group at the center of the movie, continues to make chart history. Their single “Golden” just logged its fifth week at No. 1 on the Billboard Hot 100, making it the longest-running chart-topper ever by an animated act. That beats out classics like The Archies’ “Sugar, Sugar” and even The Chipmunks’ Christmas staple.

A Long Road to No. 1

For weeks, the soundtrack had been stuck at No. 2. According to Luminate, it finally jumped to the top with 128,000 equivalent album units in the U.S. this week, boosted by a deluxe edition released on Sept. 5 and its first-ever CD version. The last time a soundtrack dominated like this was Disney’s Encanto back in 2022
