Timothée Chalamet and Adam Sandler joined together for a special event in Los Angeles, where they openly discussed their journeys, inspirations, and future goals. It was a night filled with laughter, nostalgia, and mutual admiration.
The gathering, held on 15 November at Fairfax High School, brought together fans, students and film lovers eager to see two very different but equally adored actors share a stage.
Both were promoting their upcoming films — Marty Supreme for Chalamet and Jay Kelly for Sandler — but what began as a casual conversation quickly turned into something far more heartfelt.
The two even played a quick game of basketball before they sat down to talk, which was a light-hearted moment that perfectly captured the warm, playful energy between them. Sandler, who is renowned for his fierce competition in the sport, won the match and was beaming as the audience applauded.
When the conversation shifted to their craft, Timothée Chalamet opened up about the moment he realised just how extraordinary Sandler was as an actor.
Speaking with genuine admiration, he recalled the first time he saw Sandler’s 2006 film Punch-Drunk Love.

“It is one of the most important performances. It’s impactful, deeply moving. As a young actor, knowing you for your comedic work, seeing that thrown against the context of your other work, I’m like, ‘Wow, this is a fucking incredible actor. I hope I can give a performance like this.’”
Chalamet went on to add that while awards aren’t everything, he still believes Sandler deserved an Oscar for his body of work, calling him “one of the best f****** actors of all time.”
Sandler, visibly touched, was quick to return the compliment. The Uncut Gems star praised Chalamet’s dedication and the emotional depth he brings to every role.
“What you continue to do for cinema and for all of us is beyond it all. I just cannot wait to see what you bring in the future,” Sandler said.
