James Cameron's Avatar: Fire and Ash is just a few days away from officially releasing in the theatres. The advance booking of the film has already started.
According to Pinkvilla, 55,000 tickets for James Cameron's Avatar: Fire and Ash were sold on its opening day at two significant Indian movie theatres. The film’s pre-sales brought in over Rs 4 crore on the first day and an expected Rs 10 crore throughout the course of the weekend.
However, the numbers are much lower in comparison to its predecessor, Avatar: The Way of Water. Avatar: Fire and Ash's advance sales are only about 40% of those of Avatar: The Way of Water at the same time.
As the movie gets closer to its release, this difference is anticipated to decrease; estimates indicate that final sales may reach 200K as opposed to Avatar 2's 330K.
The pattern is also seen in other international marketplaces. South India, especially Tamil Nadu and the Telugu states, had the best advance sales for the movie. These areas were also the most popular ones for Avatar 2.
North India is anticipated to catch up as the release date draws near, albeit it may initially trail behind. In the northern circuits, the current box office battle with Dhurandhar is anticipated to be a significant obstacle for Avatar: Fire and Ash.
In its third week, Ranveer Singh’s action thriller is predicted to keep taking centre stage. This is in sharp contrast to 2022, when Ranveer Singh's Cirkus was overshadowed at the box office by Avatar 2.

Cirkus was an unsuccessful attempt at comedy, whereas Avatar 2 was a follow-up to the massive 2009 film Avatar.
