In a significant development in the ongoing controversy surrounding the death of celebrity manager Disha Salian, her father, Satish Salian, met a senior police officer in Mumbai on Thursday, seeking urgent action on his complaint. He was accompanied by his lawyers and demanded that an FIR be registered against Shiv Sena (UBT) leader Aaditya Thackeray and others whom he holds responsible for his daughter’s death in 2020.
Salian alleged that Disha was not only murdered but that the incident was subsequently covered up to shield powerful individuals. During his meeting at the Police Commissioner’s office in South Mumbai around 3 pm, Salian and his legal team submitted a written complaint and demanded that an FIR be filed.
“I’m ready to undergo a narco analysis test today itself,” Satish Salian told the media after the meeting. “However, along with me, the test should be conducted on the persons named in my application, including Aaditya Thackeray.”
On Wednesday, Shiv Sena (UBT) Lok Sabha MP Arvind Sawant had called for a narco test on Satish Salian, escalating tensions in the politically sensitive case.
Narco tests, commonly referred to as “truth serum,” are used in forensic investigations, although they remain controversial due to questions surrounding their scientific credibility and legal admissibility.
According to Satish Salian’s lawyers, the Maharashtra government informed them that it is currently reviewing the complaint and considering action. However, no FIR has been filed yet. “Until there is a case number on the complaint, there can be no further action in the matter,” they contended.
One of the lawyers added, “We’ve also demanded a CBI investigation into the case. Until then, appoint a good officer with whom we will share all evidence, including materials not previously made available. The officer can close the case in seven days.”
A Special Investigation Team (SIT) is currently looking into the case. Meanwhile, Salian has also filed a petition in the Bombay High Court, seeking a fresh probe. The plea alleges, “Disha was raped and murdered, and there was a politically-orchestrated cover-up to protect certain influential persons.”
Aaditya Thackeray, former state minister, has previously stated that he would respond to the allegations if required in court.
The case continues to draw national attention amid growing demands for justice and accountability.
