Tabu is one of Bollywood's most talented and respected actresses, known for her powerful performances in both mainstream and independent films. She has received numerous accolades, including two National Film Awards and the prestigious Padma Shri for her contributions to Indian cinema. Some of her most notable films include "Maachis," "Chandni Bar," "Virasat," "Hu Tu Tu," "Astitva," "Cheeni Kum," "Drishyam," and "Andhadhun."

Interestingly, Tabu never wanted to be an actress. Growing up in a Hyderabadi Muslim family, she was more focused on her studies. It was the legendary actor Dev Anand who persuaded her to enter the film industry. Her first acting role came in the movie "Hum Naujawan" in 1985 when she was just a teenager. However, she got her big break opposite Ajay Devgn in the 1994 film "Vijaypath."   A Complicated Family Background

Tabu's childhood was shaped by her parents' divorce when she was only three years old. Following the separation, her mother took on the responsibility of raising Tabu and her sister. Tabu spent much of her childhood living with her grandparents in Hyderabad. In an interview with Simmi Garewal, she shared, "I had a great childhood... My mum was a teacher, and so I ended up spending more time with her mother, and my grandmother would pray and read books. I was very timid, I did not have a voice."
