CID has been one of India’s most iconic crime shows, capturing hearts since its debut in 1998. After a glorious 20-year run, the show went off-air in 2018, leaving fans disheartened. However, in 2024, the creators answered public demand by reviving the series as CID 2, bringing back the original charm and intensity that had once made it a household favorite.
The beloved trio—Shivaji Satam as ACP Pradyuman, Dayanand Shetty as Daya, and Aditya Srivastava as Abhijeet—returned to their iconic roles, reigniting fan nostalgia. With gripping cases and the original flavor intact, CID 2 gained momentum quickly and is now streaming on Netflix, attracting both long-time viewers and new fans.
However, a shocking twist in recent episodes stunned audiences: ACP Pradyuman was shown to be killed in a blast orchestrated by Barboza. The sudden demise of such a legendary character left fans heartbroken. Adding to the mystery, Shivaji Satam revealed in an interview that he was not shooting currently and had no idea about his character’s future, leaving viewers confused and emotional.

Following this plot development, CID 2 introduced a new ACP—Ayushmaan, played by Kaisi Yeh Yaariaan fame Parth Samthaan. While Parth’s entry stirred curiosity, it also sparked controversy and comparisons. Many assumed he was replacing Shivaji Satam, leading to mixed reactions from the audience.
Now, Hrishikesh Pandey, who plays Inspector Sachin on the show, has addressed these speculations and expressed his concerns. In an interview with BollywoodLife, he clarified that Parth Samthaan is not replacing Shivaji Satam’s iconic role.
“I haven’t shot with Parth Samthaan yet. I don’t even know him personally and have never met him. But the rest of the team has started shooting with him,” he shared.
Speaking about the widespread comparisons, Hrishikesh said, “But, this is not fair to compare him with Shivaji Satam. He is the new guy who has come. Secondly, I would also want to say is that the character of ACP Pradyuman is different and what character he is playing is different. So why is everyone comparing him?”
He firmly denied the idea that Parth was stepping into Shivaji Satam’s shoes. “He is not replacing Pradyuman. Parth is playing another character. But the talk is about that he is replacing Shivaji Satam aka ACP Pradyuman. This is a wrong portrayal. Everyone is talking like that. We should not compare.”
Hrishikesh also added, “I am sure whatever he is doing is going to be good. And nobody can replace Shivaji Satam as ACP Pradyuman. He is what he is.”
The actor’s statements offer much-needed clarity and serve as a reminder to appreciate the evolving narrative without diminishing the legacy of iconic characters. As CID 2 continues, fans remain hopeful that the show will honor its roots while embracing fresh storytelling.
