His introspective solo track “What If...” from the critically acclaimed album Jack in the Box is featured in the official trailer of Amazon Prime Video’s upcoming espionage thriller Butterfly.
Released on July 15, the trailer left fans stunned as J-Hope’s haunting lyrics played in the background, perfectly capturing the moody tone of the series.
The track’s brooding energy and philosophical depth align seamlessly with the show’s narrative.
Butterfly follows the story of David Jung, portrayed by Daniel Dae Kim, a former U.S. intelligence officer living in exile in South Korea.
His seemingly peaceful life is shattered when he’s pulled back into the shadows by secrets from his past.
J-Hope’s lyrics, which delve into the contrast between his on-stage persona and his inner self, mirror the emotional struggles of Jung, amplifying the trailer's intensity.
Based on the 2015 graphic novel by Arash Amel and Marguerite Bennett, Butterfly explores deep themes of loyalty, betrayal, and redemption. Daniel Dae Kim not only stars in the series but also serves as an executive producer. The star-studded cast includes Park Hae-soo, Kim Tae-hee, Reina Hardesty, and Piper Perabo. The show is helmed by creators Ken Woodruff and Steph Cha.
The trailer drop came just a day after J-Hope's headline performance in Berlin, where he delivered a powerful 21-song solo set to a crowd of 60,000 fans.
