As reported by The Hindu, Kapoor explained that Sridevi had lawfully purchased the property on 19 April 1988 from a man named M.C. Sambanda Mudaliar.

The property originally belonged to Mudaliar and was divided among his three sons and two daughters through a mutual family arrangement in 1960 — an agreement that paved the way for Sridevi’s legal acquisition.
