Garima Garg, wife of late Assamese singer Zubeen Garg, has spoken out with heartbreaking details about his final hours in Singapore.
In an interview with News18, she questioned why the music icon, who had travelled for a show, was instead taken for a picnic and swimming while he was visibly exhausted and on medication.
“Why was he not taken care of when his manager was there? We have lost our cultural icon,” Garima Garg said, voicing her pain and frustration.
The Last Call and the Mystery Picnic
She revealed that her last call with Zubeen Garg was on the night of the 18th. Not once did he mention a picnic, which suggests he may not have known about it. “He usually sleeps during the day, maybe he was forcefully taken. I don’t even know if he was given his medicines,” Garima Garg added.
On the 19th, when she asked Siddharth, one of his organisers, about the incident, she was told: “He had his first seizure attack inside the water.”
More Questions Than Answers
According to Garima Garg, Zubeen Garg never had a heart condition. “When he had the seizure, he was back in a minute. I was really shocked,” she said. The family asked for photos or videos from the organisers but received none.
“There might be many things… this was not death due to scuba diving. Investigation is on and we all want to know what exactly happened,” she stressed.
Expressing her faith in the legal system, Garima Garg said Assam CM Himanta Biswa Sarma is taking the matter seriously. “I am sure we will get justice very soon.”
Remembering Zubeen Garg
Garima Garg also spoke about Zubeen Garg’s unbreakable bond with his people. “He always told me – I am not for a single family, I am here for the people, for my fans. This is the love people are giving him back – their prayers, their devotion. He always worshipped nature. For him, nature was God.”
