Vicky Kaushal talks about embracing fatherhood, admits 'Better at changing diapers than acting'

Vicky Kaushal recently opened up about the emotional transformation he has experienced after becoming a father, admitting that leaving his newborn son at home for work was “very tough.” Calling fatherhood magical and indescribable, the actor said his son feels like a blessing and joked that he is now better at changing diapers than acting.

Bollywood couple Vicky Kaushal and Katrina Kaif welcomed a baby boy this year in November. Vicky has recently talked about the emotional change in his life since accepting fatherhood with the birth of his son with Katrina.

The actor admitted that leaving his newborn at home while travelling for work was difficult. He added that he still finds it difficult to express how overwhelming it is to be a father.

During a recent NDTV Indian of the Year 2025, which took place in Delhi on Friday, Vicky Kaushal earned the Actor of the Year award for his performance in Chhaava as Chhatrapati Sambhaji Maharaj.
While accepting the award, Vicky said, “Thank you, this is for my family and my little one who has come in as a blessing… Yeh pehli baar hai jo main shehar chhodhke aaya hoon after becoming a father, and it was very tough (This is the first time I’ve left the city after becoming a father, and it was very tough).”

The actor added, “It was very tough, but I'm sure when he grows up, and he watches this, he'll be proud of his dad.”

Vicky also talked about whether the role of being a father came as a challenge. Vicky admitted, “It is too new to feel any challenges. It's all magical right now. It's all very blissful right now… I don’t know main shabdon mein nahi baiyan kar sakta ke kya feeling hai (I can’t describe the feeling in words).”
