Bollywood actress Shilpa Shetty’s restaurant Bastian continues to make headlines, this time not for any legal drama. The actress reportedly earns Rs 2 and Rs 3 crore per night.
Shobhaa De, a writer and socialite, has recently teased the astounding figures and described what it's like to enter one of the most upscale restaurants in the city.
In a recent interview with Mojo Story, Shobhaa De discussed the astounding amount of money made at Bastian.
Shobhaa shared, “The kind of money in Mumbai is astonishing. One single restaurant in Mumbai has a turnover of Rs 2-3 crore a night. On a slow night, the turnover is Rs 2 crore and on weekends it is Rs 3 crore. I walked into that restaurant to see it myself because when I heard these numbers… I said this can’t be true.”
However, when she was asked about the restaurant, Shobhaa shared the details and added, “It’s Bastian. It’s the new Bastian. It’s on the top. It is 21,000 ft square feet, it’s not even reality. You walk in there and you feel ‘where am I?’ You have a 360° view of the city."
With two seatings of 700 diners each, Bastian can host up to 1,400 guests in a single evening, according to Shobhaa.
She said, “They have a waiting list of people waiting downstairs on the road in Dadar, which is like the heartland of old Maharashtrian conservative area in Mumbai. There are people coming in Lamborghini and Aston Martin. You name it. Who are these people? I have no idea.”

Shobhaa also described her own experience at the restaurant. She said, “I was in a state of shock. I didn’t know a single face in all 700 diners. There were young, and they were ordering bottles and bottles of the best in line tequila for the table. Each table was spending in the lakhs but they were complete strangers."
In 2019, restaurateur Ranjit Bindra, the creator of the Bastian brand, teamed up with Shilpa Shetty. Since then, she has increased her footprint in the hospitality industry by co-owning several eateries in India and owning half of the Bastian brand. Shilpa previously admitted that she is one of the biggest restaurant owners in the nation.
A fraud case is pending against Shilpa Shetty and her husband, Raj Kundra, who are alleged to have defrauded a Juhu businessman out of Rs 60.48 crore.
