Sameer Wankhede, former Mumbai Zonal Director of the Narcotics Control Bureau (NCB), has recently filed a lawsuit against Red Chillies Entertainment Private Limited and Netflix, alleging that The Bads of Bollywood mocks him and portrays him in a “false, malicious, and defamatory” light.
However, Sameer Wankhede has now reflected on the alleged WhatsApp chat with Shah Rukh Khan that was previously leaked online.
In a recent interview with Hindustan Times, Sameer Wankhede questioned, “There was a writ petition which I had filed before the Hon’ble Bombay High Court. In that writ I had to present some evidence in front of the court. So why will I 'leak' it? I will bring it to the Hon’ble Court. What is my motive in “leaking” those things?”
The "WhatsApp leak" dates back to 2023, when the former NCB officer was the target of a corruption case brought by the CBI. The CBI assured the Bombay High Court in July 2025 that it would complete its investigation in three months.
Former Mumbai Zonal Director elaborated, “In any case, those things will be coming out when any arguments will be happening. So what is the intention to leak? And, what is wrong in those chats? The matter is before the honorable High Court.”
“Along with that, I've given 65B certificate also. So why leaking and doing all those things? It is my job, which I presented to the honourable court,” he added.
Shah Rukh Khan’s leaked chat
In May 2023, an alleged leaked chat of Shah Rukh Khan and Sameer Wankhede swirled around the internet, just 10 days after Aryan Khan was arrested. The then NCB officer reportedly attached the WhatsApp chats in his petition in a Rs 25-crore extortion case against him.
Shah Rukh Khan’s alleged chat reads, “You are a good man. Please be kind to my son. My son will break as a human being. I can only plead and beg you as a father. Please. You promised you will reform my child. I would never stand in front of what you are doing. I have just believe in your goodness.”
"Get your guys to go slow for Gods sake. I swear I will stand by you at all times to come and assist you with what all you are trying to achieve good. It's a man's promise and you know me enough to know I am good for it. I beg you to please have mercy in me and my family. We are a simple set of people and my son has been a bit wayward, but he doesn't deserve being in a jail like a hardened criminal. You also know that. Please have a heart man, please I beg you."
"I beg you man, please don't let him be in that jail. He will break as a human being. His spirit will be destroyed because of some vested people. You promised you will reform my child not put him in a place where he may come out completely battered and broken."
Sameer Wankhede filed a defamation case against
Sameer Wankhede has recently filed a defamation case against Red Chillies and Netflix. He has sought relief in the nature of a permanent and mandatory injunction, declaration, and damages against the production house, Netflix and others, adding that he has been aggrieved by a false, malicious, and defamatory video in Aryan Khan's directorial debut show, 'The Bads of Bollywood'.
The High Court has asked Red Chillies Entertainment and others to file a reply within seven days. The petition has been asked to file a rejoinder within three days thereafter.
The court has asked the petitioner to supply a copy of the petition to all defendants. The matter has been listed on October 30 for a hearing.
The High Court refused to grant any instant relief to the petitioner and asked them to come after 10 days. (With ANI inputs)
