India is grieving the loss of one of its most beloved stars — Dharmendra, whose passing has left an unfillable void in the heart of Indian cinema.
Known as the He-Man of Bollywood, Dharmendra wasn’t just an actor; he was a symbol of grace, humility, and timeless charm.
As tributes pour in from across the nation, President Droupadi Murmu joined millions in mourning the cinematic legend. Sharing her heartfelt condolences on X (formerly Twitter), she wrote:
“The demise of veteran actor and former Member of Parliament Shri Dharmendra Ji is a great loss to Indian cinema. One of the most popular actors, he delivered numerous memorable performances during his decades-long illustrious career. As a towering figure of Indian cinema, he leaves behind a legacy which will continue to inspire young generations of artists. My heartfelt condolences to his family, friends and admirers.”
Over a career spanning more than six decades, Dharmendra Deol built an extraordinary body of work that blended strength with soul. Whether it was the gentle sincerity of Satyakam, the humour of Chupke Chupke, or the heroism of Sholay and Dharam Veer, his performances transcended generations.
With his effortless charisma and emotional depth, he redefined what it meant to be a Hindi film hero.
Beyond the silver screen, Dharmendra’s humility shone just as brightly. He served as a Member of Parliament from Bikaner (2004–2009), earning admiration for his honesty and his connection with the people — qualities that mirrored his on-screen simplicity.
Earlier, Prime Minister Narendra Modi too expressed his sorrow, calling Dharmendra “an iconic film personality” and remembering his warmth and humanity.
