Gaurav Gera shares BTS and reacts to overwhelming love for his Dhurandhar

Actor and comedian Gaurav Gera is soaking in the overwhelming love coming his way for his performance in Aditya Dhar’s Dhurandhar. Reacting to the appreciation, the actor described the experience as ‘deeply humbling,’ sharing a series of behind-the-scenes photographs accompanied by poetic reflections from the film’s sets.

In his note, Gaurav expressed gratitude to director Aditya Dhar for his ‘quiet faith and fearless vision,’ and to casting director Mukesh Chhabra for recognising potential that, in his words, “wasn’t obvious.”

He added that the journey of Dhurandhar speaks softly but leaves a lasting impact, a sentiment echoed in the tone of his BTS captions. He wrote, “Some journeys speak softly but stay forever. The response to #Dhurandhar—and to my role—has been deeply humbling. Grateful to @adityadharfilms for his quiet faith and fearless vision, and to @castingchhabra for seeing what wasn’t obvious. Carrying this gratitude with me. Always."
Gaurav Gera has opened up about his strikingly unrecognisable appearance in Dhurandhar and how the film gave him a chance to break away from familiar territory. In an interview with Zoom, Gaurav said that after playing a wide range of characters, including the hugely popular Chutki, he had been waiting for a role that would truly allow him to showcase the depth of his craft. He pointed out that actors often get typecast, which limits how audiences perceive their abilities, adding that Dhurandhar helped reveal a side of him viewers hadn’t seen before.

Speaking about his physical transformation for the film, Gaurav shared that his character was designed to appear much older than his real age. He noted that many people are unaware of how old he actually is, making the transformation even more surprising. The film’s team altered his look significantly by cutting his hair much shorter than usual and giving him a white beard. Joking about it, the actor remarked that the beard is white in real life too, thanks to years of makeup, but acknowledged that the film finally allowed audiences to see him in a completely new light.
