As soon as the trailer of Dhurandhar mentioned that the film is ‘inspired by incredible true events,’ viewers immediately began digging into how the Aditya Dhar-directed action thriller might be linked to real-life incidents.

Netizens speculated that the film could be inspired by the life of late Major Mohit Sharma, given the trailer’s tone and the undercover elements hinted at in the narrative.

Online users also pointed out striking parallels between the film’s characters and real historical figures. They observed that R. Madhavan’s Ajay Sanyal, Akshaye Khanna’s Rehman Dakait, Sanjay Dutt’s SP Chaudhary Aslam, and Arjun Rampal’s Major Iqbal ISI seem modeled on Ajit Doval, Rehman Dakait, Chaudhry Aslam Khan, and Ilyas Kashmiri, respectively.

With Ranveer Singh’s character name being deliberately withheld in the trailer, many viewers assumed he was portraying Major Mohit Sharma, who famously went undercover in Pakistan as Iftikhar Bhatt to infiltrate the Hizbul Mujahideen in the early 2000s.
