YouTuber Armaan Malik, who gained national attention after competing on Bigg Boss OTT 3 with his two wives, Payal and Kritika Malik, is once again in the news, but this time for legal reasons.
According to Live Hindustan, a district court in Patiala has summoned the three in relation to two different cases and ordered them to appear in person on September 2.
The legal action is the result of a petition filed by Davinder Rajput, who claims that Malik has four wives instead of two, in violation of the Hindu Marriage Act, which permits Hindus to only marry once at a time.
The petitioner has accused Armaan and Payal of offending religious sentiments in addition to the bigamy allegations. The claim stems from an Instagram video where Payal was dressed as the Hindu goddess Kali, an act that apparently infuriated the public.
The petition argues that this portrayal violated religious beliefs and ought to be considered a crime under Indian law.
In an apparent attempt to make amends, Armaan and Payal embarked on a series of public gestures of atonement. On 22 July, they visited the Kali Mata Temple in Patiala to offer prayers and publicly apologise. The following day, they travelled to another Kali temple in Kharar, Mohali, where Payal is said to have undertaken a seven-day religious penance involving temple cleaning and other rituals.
Their efforts to seek forgiveness continued in Haridwar, where the couple met Acharya Mahamandaleshwar Kailashanand Giri of the Niranjani Akhara. However, during this period, Payal’s health reportedly worsened, and she was admitted to a hospital in Mohali.

Malik, who was born Sandeep in Hisar, Haryana, started out as a private bank employee before relocating to Delhi and pursuing a career in content creation. When he and both of his wives competed in Bigg Boss OTT 3, which debuted on June 21, 2024, his fame soared.
