The Bads of Bollywood, a high-stakes comedy-drama that follows an ambitious outsider and his group of friends as they navigate the frequently unpredictable and chaotic terrain of the Hindi film industry, is expected to make a daring debut on streaming services. The program promises to reveal Bollywood's inner workings in a humorous and perceptive manner.
Speaking on Nikhil Kamath’s WTF podcast, Netflix’s co-CEO Ted Sarandos shared his enthusiasm for the project. “It’s very fun. I’ve watched the first two episodes so far. It’s very funny. People in India and across the world know little about the inner workings of Bollywood, so it’s a really fun world to explore. Aryan Khan is a very good director.”
The project, which is supported by Red Chillies Entertainment and produced by Gauri Khan, assembles a formidable creative team that includes executive producers Akshat Verma and Bonnie Jain. In addition to being the show's creator and director, Aryan has worked with Manav Chauhan and Bilal Siddiqi, who are also co-creators and writers.
The Bads of Bollywood, which is slated for release in 2025, is already generating buzz because of Aryan's heritage as well as his potential as a new and focused storytelling voice.
