The snake is back. Sony Pictures Entertainment just dropped the trailer for Anaconda, a wild reboot of the cult 1997 creature-thriller — and this time, Jack Black and Paul Rudd are front and center.
The film takes a sharp meta twist. Instead of a straight survival story, it follows Doug (Jack) and Griff (Paul), two lifelong friends trying to remake their favorite jungle movie. The catch is while filming in the Amazon, a real giant Anaconda crashes their project. What begins as a midlife passion experiment quickly turns into a fight for survival.
The trailer, which mixes sly humor with some genuinely tense snake moments, has already sparked buzz online. Fans are calling it “a crazy blend of Tropic Thunder and classic monster horror.”

A Meta Reboot with a Bite
Directed by Tom Gormican, the film promises both laughs and jump scares. Jack’s trademark chaos pairs with Paul’s easygoing charm, giving the duo a comedic rhythm even as the snake looms larger.
Alongside them, Steve Zahn, Thandiwe Newton, Daniela Melchior, and Selton Mello add depth to the ensemble. The film is produced by Brad Fuller, Andrew Form, Kevin Etten, and Gormican himself.

Unlike the 1997 original — where Jennifer Lopez, Ice Cube, Owen Wilson, and Jon Voight faced off against the predator — this reboot pokes fun at the very idea of remaking a classic while still delivering the monster goods.
Release Date and Language
Anaconda is set for a Christmas Day 2025 release in India, hitting theaters in English, Hindi, Tamil, and Telugu. That positions it against holiday blockbusters, but with Jack and Paul leading the charge, Sony is clearly betting on nostalgia and fresh laughs.
