Vijay Sethupathi, Rukmini Vasanth and Yogi Babu starrer Tamil romantic crime comedy Ace released in the theatres on May 23 and received positive reviews from the audience for its comedy timing, dialogues, and performances.
Despite the positive reviews, Ace seems to have a low box office collection on Day 1. The film marks the lowest opening in Vijay Sethupathi's film collection, especially considering his star power.
According to Sacnilk, Ace is estimated to earn one crore net across all languages on its first day in India. The reports suggested that the film had a 16.51% overall occupancy in its primary market, Tamil Nadu's 2D screens. Meanwhile, Chennai registered 41% theatre occupancy in night shows, pushing the overall city average to 29.25%.
However, other regions, including Coimbatore (15.75%) and Madurai (15.75%), showed average response. Bengaluru had the lowest Tamil collection, with the film managing just 7.75% overall occupancy.
The Telugu version of Ace witnessed an overall 16.20% occupancy in Andhra Pradesh and Telangana. Hyderabad showed relatively better response with 18.50% overall occupancy, peaking at 21% in the afternoon. Vijayawada had a moderate response with 16.25% occupancy, while Bengaluru struggled with a low 2% occupancy in Telugu screenings.
