The Election Commission of India (ECI) on March 16 announced that the Lok Sabha elections in Rajasthan will be conducted in two phases. Polling is scheduled to take place on April 19 and April 26, respectively. The 2024 Lok Sabha elections are scheduled to be held in seven phases, starting on April 19 and concluding on June 1. The results of the elections will be officially declared on June 4.
The 2014 Lok Sabha polls were conducted in nine phases, while the 2019 elections took place in seven phases.
In the first phase, voting will be held for 12 Lok Sabha seats, while in the second phase, voting will be conducted for the remaining 13 seats. With the declaration of the election dates, the stage is set for an intense political campaign in the state, where the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) holds significant sway.
In the first phase of elections in Rajasthan, polls will be held in Sriganganagar, Bikaner, Churu, Jhunjhunu, Sikar, Jaipur, Jaipur Rural, Bharatpur, Karauli-Dholpur, Dausa, and Tonk-Sawai Madhopur. The remaining 13 seats in southern Rajasthan, including Ajmer, Nagaur, Pali, Jalore, Barmer, Jodhpur, and Udaipur, will go to the polls in the second phase.

The BJP secured a landslide victory in the Lok Sabha polls in the state in 2019, winning 24 of the 25 seats.
Additionally, an assembly by-poll for the Bagidora constituency will be conducted on April 26. The seat became vacant after Congress lawmaker Mahendrajeet Singh Malviya resigned and joined the ruling BJP on February 21.
The BJP has announced the names of its 15 candidates in Rajasthan, while Congress has fielded only 10 candidates so far. In the last 10 years, the BJP has dominated all 25 Lok Sabha seats in Rajasthan. Moreover, in the last assembly elections in the state, the BJP regained power by defeating the Congress. However, with the release of the election schedule, the voting dates have become clear, prompting both the BJP and Congress to finalise and announce the names of their remaining candidates.
Opinion polls predict that the BJP is expected to secure 61 percent of the votes in the state during the 2024 Lok Sabha elections, while the Congress may receive around 33 percent of the votes. Speculation is rife that the Congress might face challenges in securing any seats in the Lok Sabha elections in the state once again. Moreover, compared to other parties in Rajasthan, the saffron party is projected to receive 6 percent more votes in the 2024 Lok Sabha elections.
