In the 2019 Lok Sabha elections, the BJP emerged victorious in the North Goa constituency while the Congress won the South Goa seat. Shripad Yesso Naik, who defeated Congress leader Girish Chodankar by over 80,000 votes, currently represents North Goa. Francisco Sardinha of the Congress represents South Goa Lok Sabha constituency.

The 2014 elections saw the BJP maintain its hold on the North Goa seat and make inroads into the traditional Congress bastion of South Goa.
