With temperatures soaring and heatwave conditions expected to worsen in the coming weeks, the Telangana Education Department has decided that all schools across the state will operate on a half-day schedule starting March 15, 2025. This arrangement will continue until April 23, 2025, covering both government and private institutions.

According to the official orders, all primary, upper primary, and high schools, whether government-run, aided, or private, will function from 8:00 AM to 12:30 PM during this period. Mid-day meals will still be provided to students at 12:30 PM, before they are sent home.

Officials said this step has been taken to protect students from extreme heat and to avoid exposing them to high temperatures during peak afternoon hours. The state usually faces harsh summer weather, and with the Meteorological Department warning of a particularly intense season this year, authorities have decided not to take any chances with students’ health and well-being.

For students appearing for the SSC (10th Class) public examinations, the schedule will be slightly different. Schools that are serving as examination centres will function between 1:00 PM and 5:00 PM to conduct these crucial exams. Special preparation classes for Class 10 students will also continue during these hours.
